Independent Review · Updated October 2026
Verdict: A real browser, but payouts are unreliable
Is CryptoTab legit? The product exists and the free version can earn tiny amounts. But paid boosts and withdrawal problems are where most complaints pile up.
Paid boosts risk: High
Realistic earnings: cents per day
Written by CryptoKashyap · 11 min read · Based on public reviews and sources. We did not test withdrawals ourselves.
CryptoTab promises Bitcoin just for browsing the web, and millions of people have installed it. Search for reviews and you will find people saying “it pays” next to people saying “my withdrawal has been stuck for a year.” So is CryptoTab legit, or is it a scam?
This guide goes through independent ratings, complaint patterns, the company’s own replies, the electricity math, and the real cost of the paid upgrades. Where evidence is thin or dated, we say so.
In this guide
Key takeaways
- CryptoTab is a real Chromium-based browser run by CryptoCompany OÜ, a company registered in Estonia.
- Free mining earns very little. One reviewer reported about 0.00004 BTC over three to four months of regular use.
- Trustpilot ratings are poor, around 2 out of 5 across 1,100+ reviews, with 61% giving one star.
- The most serious complaints involve withdrawals stuck for months and payouts stopping after buying boosts.
- If you try it, never pay for boosts, and test a small withdrawal first.
What Is CryptoTab Browser?
CryptoTab is a web browser with a built-in mining feature. It is based on Chromium, the same open-source foundation as Chrome and Edge, so you can import bookmarks and use Chrome extensions. It runs on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.
The company behind it is CryptoCompany OÜ, a private limited company in Estonia. It sells more than a browser: there are paid app versions, Cloud.Boost speed multipliers, Pool Miner subscriptions, and a separate CT Pool service.
How CryptoTab Actually Works
The mining
According to DailyCoin’s analysis, the browser does not mine Bitcoin directly. It mines Monero, which suits ordinary processors, and converts the result into Bitcoin. That is why balances appear in BTC. Ordinary computers mine Monero slowly, which explains the small payouts.
The referral program
The second income route is referrals. DailyCoin described a 10-level structure, with 15% of what direct referrals mine and smaller shares from deeper levels. This is why many top earners are promoters, not browsers.
Cloud.Boost
Cloud.Boost multiplies your mining speed using CryptoTab’s cloud servers. A 2021 press release listed multipliers of 2x, 5x, 10x and 15x, which can be stacked. This is a paid product, and it is where much of the money in the complaints comes from.
How Much Can You Actually Earn With CryptoTab?
There is no official earnings guarantee, and public figures are scattered across different years and Bitcoin prices. Here is what we found:
| Source | What it reported | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| DailyCoin review | Users said they struggled to pass about $15 to $25 a month | Originally 2020, updated 2025 |
| Medium user test (2021) | About $18 in four weeks on four devices, no boosts or referrals | Bitcoin was about $60,200 then |
| Trustpilot reviewer | About 0.00004 BTC in three to four months at 4 to 5 hours, five days a week | Single anecdote |
To put the last figure in dollars, 0.00004 BTC is about $3.60 at an illustrative $90,000 per Bitcoin.
The Electricity Reality Check
Mining uses power. This table uses assumed numbers for illustration, not measurements:
| Extra power draw while mining | 80 watts |
| Mining time per day | 8 hours |
| Electricity price | $0.15 per kWh |
| Daily power cost | about $0.10 |
| Monthly power cost | about $2.90 |
The Paid Upgrades: Where the Risk Concentrates
The browser is free. Money enters through Cloud.Boost, Pool Miner subscriptions (sold by the month and periodically discounted), and paid app versions. Prices change often, so check current terms in the app.
Here is what reviewers say about paying:
- One Trustpilot reviewer said they bought a 10x boost for $32 and saw no payout.
- Another said they put $50 into a miner, mined about $15, and could not withdraw it.
- A Capterra reviewer said their account was blocked after paying 700 euros to increase speed.
- One reviewer said payouts stopped after about a third of a subscription’s value was paid.
These are individual claims we cannot verify. But the pattern, small early payouts, then a purchase, then stalled withdrawals, repeats across reviews, which is why we advise against buying boosts.

Other snapshots show a separate CryptoTab profile at about 1.3 out of 5 across roughly 200 reviews. On Capterra the picture is milder: 3.9 out of 5 from 33 reviews, with 18 five-star and 6 one-star ratings. That split matters. CryptoTab has real fans, and also many angry users.
Signs it is real
- A working product from a registered company
- Listed on major app stores
- Public payments journal, per DailyCoin
- Some users confirm small payouts
- The company replies to most negative reviews
Warning signs
- Poor Trustpilot scores, mostly one star
- Many reports of withdrawals pending for months or years
- Complaints of unresponsive support
- Income depends on paid boosts and referrals
- Website scanners flag high financial risk
Our read: we cannot prove CryptoTab is a scam, and some complaints may involve accounts held for terms violations. But the volume of unresolved withdrawal complaints is a serious red flag, especially for people who paid for upgrades.
Why Are CryptoTab Withdrawals Pending?
This is the number one complaint. Reviewers describe requests pending for many months, with some citing over a year. In its public replies, CryptoTab says withdrawal holds are applied by an automated security system when a possible breach of its Terms of Use is detected, and that it does not ignore withdrawal issues. Users who dispute this say they got no clear explanation.
Minimum withdrawal levels have also changed over the years. Reports range from 0.00041 BTC down to 0.00001 BTC, so check the current threshold in the app.
If your withdrawal is stuck
- Contact support in writing and keep every reply.
- Read the Terms of Use sections on holds and prohibited activity, such as multiple accounts or VPN use.
- Screenshot your balance, withdrawal request and wallet address.
- If you paid by card, ask your card issuer whether a dispute is possible.
- Report fraud concerns to your local consumer authority. In the US, use ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
- Ignore anyone offering “recovery” for a fee. That is usually a second scam.
Is CryptoTab Safe to Install?
The official browser is not itself widely reported as malware, but there are real risks:
- Fake and modified copies. DailyCoin cited warnings about hacker-made versions. Download only from the official website, never from file-sharing or ad links.
- Performance. Mining uses your processor. Set a lower mining speed on laptops to limit heat and fan noise.
- Privacy. Treat it like any browser. Use a separate profile and avoid saving banking passwords there.
- Scanner flags. One automated scanner rates the site as high financial risk. This is a signal, not proof.
Verdict by Use Case
| If you plan to… | Our view |
|---|---|
| Browse with the free version | Low cost, tiny reward. Acceptable for curiosity. |
| Buy Cloud.Boost or Pool Miner | Avoid. Most reported losses start here. |
| Build a referral network | High reputational risk. You would be recruiting others into the same problems. |
| Make real income | Not realistic. |

CryptoTab FAQs: 10 Questions Answered
1. Is CryptoTab legit?
It is a real product from a registered Estonian company, and some users report small payouts. But independent ratings are poor and withdrawal complaints are common, so “exists” does not mean “reliable.”
2. Is CryptoTab a scam?
We cannot prove it is one. However, many users allege stuck withdrawals and payouts stopping after boosts, which is a serious red flag. Treat any paid upgrade as high risk.
3. Does CryptoTab really pay?
Some users confirm receiving small payments, especially early on. Others report requests pending for months or over a year. Experiences vary widely, so test a small withdrawal first.
4. How much can you earn per day with CryptoTab?
Realistically cents per day on the free version. Reported figures range from about $15 to $25 a month in older reviews to a few dollars over several months in recent ones. Referrals can add more.
5. Does CryptoTab really mine Bitcoin?
According to DailyCoin’s analysis, it mines Monero and converts earnings to Bitcoin. Balances are shown in BTC, but the underlying mining is not done by your device on the Bitcoin network.
6. Is CryptoTab a virus or safe to install?
The official browser is not itself widely reported as malware, but fake and modified copies exist. Download only from the official website and use a separate profile for safety.
7. Are Cloud.Boost and Pool Miner worth buying?
We advise against it. Many complaints involve purchases followed by stalled withdrawals. If you pay anyway, spend only what you can afford to lose completely.
8. Why is my CryptoTab withdrawal pending?
The company says automated security holds apply when a possible terms violation is detected. Contact support in writing, keep records, and check the terms. Never pay a third party to “recover” funds.
9. Does CryptoTab work on phones, and does it drain the battery?
It has Android and iOS versions. Mobile versions rely more on server-side mining, which is meant to limit battery drain. Earnings on phones are typically small too.
10. Do I pay tax on CryptoTab earnings in the US?
Under IRS guidance for mining, coins received are generally income at their dollar value when received, and selling later can create a capital gain or loss. Confirm with a tax professional.
Our Final Verdict
A real browser, not a real income source
The free version is low risk and low reward. The paid upgrades and referral hustle are where people report losing money. If you want Bitcoin, the safer route is to buy it, not to browse for it.
